Tender: Supply and Installation of Gabion Retaining Wall – Saltley Viaduct

Construction supplier needed to provide the supply, delivery and installation of a gabion retaining wall at Saltley Viaduct as part of a civil engineering project. The contract covers supply of gabion baskets with all lacing wires, diaphragms, ties and associated components; supply and delivery of Class 6G stone for infill; installation of filled gabion baskets; supply and installation of geotextile membrane to the retained face; and supply and placement of Class 6N/6P technical backfill compacted to project specifications, together with all temporary works, plant, lifting operations, access arrangements, labour, supervision and ancillary materials. This is anticipated as a one-off package; detailed quantities, wall dimensions and programme durations will be provided in the tender documentation. Suppliers must demonstrate experience in design support (where applicable), supply and installation of gabion retaining structures and comply with project specifications, relevant National Highways/Specification for Highway Works requirements where applicable, manufacturer installation requirements, and industry best practice for earth retaining structures, compaction and drainage. The successful supplier will be required to deliver works safely to approved method statements and risk assessments, maintain programme commitments, provide competent supervision and trained operatives, supply materials with relevant certification and quality records, meet required tolerances and quality standards, and coordinate deliveries and installation within a live construction environment.
