Tender: Conversion of King George V Pontardawe Tennis Courts to Meadow, SuDS, Tree Planting and Natural Play

About

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is seeking a contractor to transform the former tennis courts at King George V, Pontardawe into a nature-based green space featuring a meadow, tree planting, Sustainable Urban Drainage features (SuDS), natural play, hedgerow, pathways and protective fencing. The two-stage project requires stage 1 works to make ready a site compound, protect existing grassland, shrubs and trees on the vehicle route to the courts, prepare a Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), a Sound Mitigation Plan and risk assessments, and remove and dispose of existing tarmac and fencing; stage 2 works (as per the detailed design appendix) include re-levelling the surface to provide drainage to selected SuDS features, replacing the existing drainage pipe at the western edge of the court, installing SuDS features (swale and retention basin), planting per the appendix, constructing pathways, creating a natural play area using boulders, planting a hedgerow on the eastern edge, and installing fencing on the southern edge to protect from a drop into the council yard, with the site returned and signed off by council officers and the contractor. Works must be completed by the end of March 2027.
